Dr. Ailani:
Let’s take a look at some of the key stats about Chronic Migraine and BOTOX® treatment.

Chronic Migraine is defined as having 15 or more headache days per month, each lasting 4 hours or more. At least 8 of the headache days must be associated with migraine.

3.3 million adults in the United States have Chronic Migraine. That’s between 1 and 2 percent of all the adults in the U.S.

Since its FDA approval in 2010, more than 4.2 million BOTOX® treatments have been given to more than 600,000 people with Chronic Migraine.

At week 24 in clinical trials, BOTOX® prevented an average of 8 to 9 headache days and migraine or probable migraine days a month, vs 6 to 7 for placebo.

It is recommended that BOTOX® treatment be given every 12 weeks.

BOTOX® injections are done with very small, fine needles. The injections are into shallow muscles, just beneath the skin.

The BOTOX® injections take about 10 minutes* and are done right in the doctor’s office.

Many insurance plans cover most of the cost of BOTOX® treatment. If your insurance doesn’t cover the full amount, you may be eligible to use the BOTOX® Savings Program for any remaining out-of-pocket costs. Most people with commercial insurance who are eligible will pay nothing out of pocket for treatment with the help of the BOTOX® Savings Program.
